What will the apprentice be doing?
- Learning new skills daily from basic labouring to advanced building
- Trowel work in bricklaying, blocklaying and stone masonry
- Learning how to read and understand plans as well as setting out plots and buildings
- Learning to use different tools including disc cutters, drills, mixers/silos, clamps and profiles
- Learning the skills required to become a competent bricklayer
- Gaining knowledge and understanding of the job at hand
- Learning all aspects of bricklaying and masonry to obtain all-round knowledge of the construction process to a finished product
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- You will be working towards a Level 2 Bricklaying Apprenticeship Standard
- You will receive on and off-the-job training and support from an assessor and an Apprenticeship advisor
- You will be required to attend Cornwall College St Austell on a weekly basis as part of the apprenticeship training
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship there will may be an opportunity for a permanent position with the company
