What will the apprentice be doing?
Apprentice Responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Ensuring that the animals have ample fresh food as required, as well as fresh water at all times
- Cleaning routines; including removing animal waste, spilled food, hair, and other debris from the kennels
- Disposing of rubbish in a timely manner
- Walking dogs
- Playing with and administering care to dogs and cats
- Calming animals which are in distress
- Reporting significant changes or concerns to the supervisor on duty
- Helping animals if an emergency occurs
Apprentice Requirements:
- An interest in animals, and dogs and cats in particular
- Desire to follow a career working with animals
- Previous experience caring for animals would be advantageous
- Good interpersonal skills
- A passion for animal welfare
- Able to arrange daily transport to and from Stour Row, near Shaftesbury, as required

- Functional Skills in English and maths if required
- End Point Assessment: Practical Assessment (50%) Professional Discussion (50%)
