What will the apprentice be doing?
To provide effective and efficient support services, across a range of activities, to NP Law fee-earning teams. Will be working within a specialist functional area but may be deployed to other areas as operational needs demand. Providing proactive focussed and flexible support to fee-earning teams across a range of chargeable and non-chargeable activities.
- Managing and prioritising own workload within agreed guidelines and boundaries, ensuring that any conflicting timescales are achieved
- Under supervision to assist with a range of paralegal-type administrative activities including transactional case work, as well as for Head of Legal Services, Professional and Practice Support
- Manager and Office Manager. Assisting with complex diary management, including managing meeting conflicts and arranging meetings, events and travel
- Under supervision to assist with filing and records management including documents and multimedia materials, retention and destruction including electronic scanning and photocopying
- Providing and receiving confidential information about difficult or complex matters in accordance with GDPR and data security
- Update and maintain case files accurately as required using the current case management system
- Under supervision to assist with transcription and preparation of correspondence and documents for legal professionals, including assisting with the preparation of physical and electronic court bundles and sharing/mailing as instructed by legal professional
- Under supervision, taking minutes of legal and administrative meetings, compiling agendas and undertaking administrative work and follow up on action items so that projects and tasks are documented accurately and circulating these to appropriate individuals once approved
- Opening, sorting and distribution of mail and processing/distributing electronic mail, then actioning as requested by legal professionals, managers or Head of Service
- Under supervision to act as the first point of contact for telephone and personal enquiries, supplying information and directing matters as appropriate, dissemination and monitoring of instructions received from clients
- Preparing documents for hard copy sealing by authorised signatories on behalf of Norfolk County Council
- Validation of electronic register of sealing comparing with information received to automated audit tool
- Under supervision to assist with processing eye care voucher requests across Norfolk County Council

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Upon successful completion of this 15-month apprenticeship, you may be offered the opportunity to progress to the Level 3 Paralegal Apprenticeship and successful qualification from this could lead to you being enrolled in the 3-year Apprenticeship Solicitor programme. Alternatively, you can decide to stop on successful completion of any single step in the pathway and elect not pursue the full pathway to becoming a qualified Solicitor.
