What will the apprentice be doing?

This role will be working with the existing software team to develop software solutions, whether this be for our web or app platforms. We’re really proud to have our own bespoke software, portal, app and website, all of which are maintained by our current software development team, so there’s plenty of chances to try your hand to different niches and find where you think you belong.

Initially of course, we only expect any new Apprentices to this role to be watching and learning, occasionally fulfilling small tasks for the Software team, moving along to writing small reusable components which the team can use, testing, bug finding and flagging, and ultimately generally assisting with all day-to-day development duties.

Your duties and responsibilities in this role will consist of:

·        Present a professional and courteous image of the Company at all times

·        Meet and greet visitors

·        Answer and direct incoming calls

·        Log and deal with customer queries/issues

·        Schedule engineers

·        Ensure outgoing mail is sent

·        Check and maintain office stationery & kitchen/bathroom supplies

·        Maintain and reorder stock for customer jobs

·        Manage personal and shared mailboxes

·        Make sure all customers are on the monitoring system

·        Collect readings ready for invoicing

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Velocity apprenticeship training programmes are delivered virtually by our fully qualified and industry experienced training team. Using their expert knowledge, they will provide the skills necessary to succeed in the workplace and to expand future career prospects.

Throughout the apprenticeship learners receive coaching, help and guidance from a dedicated team who are there to ensure they get the most from their programme.

Successful completion of this apprenticeship gives you an accredited Level 3 Business Administration, with training in how to:

·        Use multiple IT packages and systems in order to write letters/emails, perform financial processes and analyse data.

·        Produce accurate records and documents including emails, letters, files, payments, reports and proposals.

·        Exercise proactivity and good judgement, in order to make effective decisions based on sound reasoning.

·        Plan and organise a variety of different tasks in order to manage the expectations of colleagues at all levels.

·        Manage projects, including the use of tools to scope, plan, monitor and report.
