What will the apprentice be doing?
This apprenticeship offers a hands-on opportunity to develop your skills in printing operations, equipment handling, and quality control. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will play a vital role in maintaining our standards of excellence in printing.
Duties will include:
- Learn and assist in operating and maintenance of various printing machinery, including digital and screen-printing equipment
- Understand and follow printing specifications, job orders, and design layouts to ensure accurate and consistent output
- Develop proficiency in laying screens for screen printing, including preparing screens, applying emulsion, and exposing designs
- Assist in setting up and preparing printing materials, ensuring accuracy and quality
- Monitor printing processes to identify any issues or deviations from quality standards, and take corrective actions as needed
- Assist in maintaining and cleaning printing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity
- Collaborate with the printing team to perform print runs and achieve consistent output
- Gain proficiency in colour mixing, print alignment, and quality control processes
- Practice quality control by inspecting printed materials for defects, inconsistencies, and errors
- Learn troubleshooting techniques and assist in resolving printing issues
- Adhere to safety guidelines and maintain a clean and organised printing area
- Participate in training programs to enhance printing skills and techniques
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The apprentice will be working towards a Level 3 Print Technician qualification
- All training will be undertaken at the Harlow site where they will gain the following
- Valuable hands-on training and mentorship from experienced printing professionals
- Exposure to a dynamic and collaborative work environment. Assessments will be conducted by Training Co-ordinators with most visits on site and some remotely
In addition, there will be a formal review every 12 weeks with the Training Co-ordinator, Apprentice and Department Manager.
