What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Working within the team to ensure that all daily prep is carried out
  • Storing delivered products
  • Cleaning utensils, machinery, and equipment
  • Weighing ingredients, scaling, and making doughs, cakes, and pastries with supervision
  • Retail sales and customer interface

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Baker apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Level 1/2 Functional Skills in maths and English (if required)
  • End-Point Assessment (EPA)

Training will be work based within the employer setting across all areas of Knowledge, Skills, and Behaviours as required by a Craft Baker which will include the following areas:

  • Preparation of bakery products including Bread, Dough, Cakes & Pastry products
  • Stock control
  • Using recording documentation
  • Adherence to legislation (food safety, Health & Safety, Allergens, etc.)
  • Teamwork
  • Using resources & equipment safely and correctly

Training will take place in the workplace.

No day or block release.
