What will the apprentice be doing?

You will be:

  • Observing children
  • Planning activities
  • Responsible for their health and well-being and attending to their every need
  • Provide outstanding standard of care and learning
  • Support their personal, social and emotional development
  • Ensure children have exciting learning opportunities and challenging interactions
  • Communicate effectively with parents
  • Keep records detailing planning and evidence of progress
  • Safeguard and look after welfare of children, you will have key children

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Early Years Practitioner Level 2 Standard Apprenticeship Qualification.

Training will be provided on an ongoing daily basis and when required. You will not be required to attend Dudley College premises as the course is delivered in the workplace only. An assessor will be allocated to you to progress / help you through you course. Continual assessments, coupled with assignments / or exams depending on course of study. Time spent training will be part of the agreed contracted hours of the working week.

At the end of your training, you will sit an exam and submit course work as part of your assessment, and you will receive a Level 2 qualification.

English and maths qualifications form a mandatory part of all apprenticeships and must be completed before an apprentice can pass through gateway. The requirements are detailed in the current version of the apprenticeship funding rules.

You will join a well-established team of practitioners, who will help to provide quality coaching and mentoring to achieve all of the requirements needed to achieve your qualification. You will receive additional training all paid for by the nursery.

Wiggles and Giggles Children’s Day Nursery is situated on the A456, Hagley Road, a major commuter route into Birmingham. The nursery supports the local areas of Oldbury, Quinton and further afield, Bromsgrove, Halesowen and Hagley. Registered to care for 75 children 0-5 years old. Ofsted registered. The ethos for the nursery was determined by a strong belief in quality childcare; care provided for the children needed to meet with Jane’s high standards for her own children. The nursery consists of two buildings, one of which is purpose built, the other a converted property. The Directors of Wiggles and Giggles and their staff team are committed to ensuring that all children within their setting are provided with the best possible care, whereby their needs come first.
