What will the apprentice be doing?

Alumasc Water Management in Burton Latimer are the leading UK supplier of premium building products, systems and solutions and have been promoting the efficient use, retention, recycling and disposal of water for almost 90 years.

Your duties will be to cut, punch and fold materials to the specification, drawings and instructions to produce quality products. You will also be responsible for fabrication on certain materials and you will be welding, using MIG or TIG processes again to the specification, drawings and instructions to produce quality products. Your role will also be to cut sheet metal using a guillotine and bond materials using the gluing process and operate a CNC machine. You will use hand tools and pneumatic saws and learn how to fold material on the brake presses to give the correct forms. You will be expected to report any errors and carry out operator maintenance whilst supporting the quality investigation process. You will also actively participate in the near miss reporting program and other continuous improvement projects as dictated by the business.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Functional Skills in English or maths if required

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Although the employer cannot guarantee permanent employment at this time, they would certainly endeavour to progress an apprentice to hopefully join the business once the apprenticeship is completed.
