What will the apprentice be doing?

As an apprentice at Callow Hall:

  • You will be learning all aspects of the kitchen from washing the pots, to butchery and fish prep, veg prep, pastry and afternoon teas, breakfast
  • You will learn prep skills also service skills plating cold starters and cooking side dishes to start
  • You will learn to work clean and tidy and under pressure of a busy kitchen environment
  • You will work under the guidance of a senior chef with the goal to be able to run a section solo in time

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Commis Chef level 2 apprenticeship standard.

There is a possibility of studying Functional Skills if you have not already achieved GCSE maths & English grade 4/C or above or equivalent.

You will attend college weekly.  

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There will be the opportunity for full-time employment at the end of the apprenticeship.
