We are looking for a Hair Professional Apprentice for our busy salon in Harpenden to learn the skills to become a Hairdressing Professional. You will carry out salon assistant duties whilst learning working behaviours, consultation/client care, shampoo and conditioning, style and setting up hair, cut and colour hair, with weekly in-house training.

What you will do in your working day

  • Training to become a stylist within the salon
  • Assisting stylists with clients by shampooing, mixing colours
  • Meeting clients offering refreshments
  • Keeping the salon clean
  • Making sure towels are washed and fresh
  • Day to day duties of a busy salon

The training you will be getting

  • You will work towards your Level 2 Hair Professional Apprenticeship Standard: Level 2 Diploma for Hair Professionals (Hairdressing), weekly in-house training, Functional Skills offered if required
  • You could also be offered the opportunity to attend the Tony & Guy academy and the Wella academy as part of your training
  • Receiving regular visits from your tutor throughout the apprenticeship

What to expect at the end of your apprenticeship

  • Upon completion of the apprenticeship, a stylist position within the salon is not guaranteed

About the employer

Friends Hair Design has been a part of Harpenden’s high street for more than 40 years, and Paul joined the team in 1993. In 2005 he took ownership of the salon with his husband and business partner Mark, and together they have built the business along side our strong team of stylists. Teaming up with Label.m and Wella we continually work together on education and both Paul and Alice have achieved the Wella colour master expert status.
