About the employer

Longcliffe Quarries will be celebrating it’s centenary in 2027, and is one of the very few independent hard rock quarries left in England, and one of the largest which is still family owned. We employ over 180 people, some of whose forebears also worked for the company, and we’re proud of the fact that many others have been with us for more than 25 years. For many years we have recognised our responsibilities within the local community and to the environment in general. The company often hosts visits by local schools and is a regular venue for student groups studying geology, chemistry and environmental science from nearby universities.
