What will the apprentice be doing?
If you are computer literate and interested in how things work and what parts go where on machines and like the thought/satisfaction of working out the right parts for the customer and getting them going when they have a breakdown or parts for a routine service, then become a Parts Advisor with The Burdens Group.
We offer full training, including on the New Holland parts systems, EPC (electronic parts catalogue) use, stock control, how to build attractive displays, how to talk to customers at the counter and over the phone to get the right information to work out their needs, how to use our Parts management system to book parts into stock, check stock of parts through our group and book parts out to customers.
Lastly, if you like technology, the agricultural industry has a wide variety of tech being used, from GPS systems and steering tractors to robotics. As a group, we are involved with developing these technologies, so there is never the same day twice!
An average day will include,
- Checking off deliveries to make sure the right items have come.
Booking Items into stock as per the order on our parts management system - Looking parts up in the EPC electronic parts catalogues
- Re-stocking the showroom
- Packing orders ready for dispatch
- Talking to customers with the aid of the parts team to work out the customers’ requirements
- Making new displays to attract customers' attention when they come into the showroom
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- The Apprentice will work towards their Apprenticeship Standard in Trade Supplier Level 2
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
- The apprenticeship training will be delivered in the workplace with an assigned dedicated Assessor making regular visits and work completed via an e-portfolio
- As per the apprenticeship course details plus additional New Holland parts training. There will be other supplier parts training on an ad hoc basis.
- On-the-job training is an essential part of this role and will be provided on a daily basis in the work environment.

- On completion and achievement of the Standard, progression routes will be provided and discussed with the individual to enable them to make informed choices about continuous professional development. This Standard provides an ideal route into specialised, supervisory and management roles and qualifications within a trade business
