What will the apprentice be doing?
Actively provide all services to clients as agreed with the manager on a client by client basis in line with Alwyns service level standards to include but not restricted to:
- Delivery of assignments on time and on budget
- Deadline management
- Identify opportunities to increase efficiency of processes
- Highlight work shortages or processing problems promptly
- Assist other members of the team to learn and develop their skills
- Where appropriate, in line with the client service programme, build strong relationships with clients to include in depth knowledge of the clients and the industry in which they operate
The range and variety of work in the department requires the apprentice to be proficient in performing the following:
- Bookkeeping
- Data entry on a variety of software packages to include Xero, Sage, Quickbooks online
- Bank reconciliations
- Purchase / sales ledger invoice entry, matching, reconciliations, payments
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Assistant Accountant Apprenticeship Level 3 - AAT This Level 3 programme builds on the foundations for entry level talent to support growth within an Accountancy and Finance function. Employees on this apprenticeship will ensure an Accountancy and Finance practice performs in the most effective way. It includes the AAT Level 3 Diploma in Accounting and provides the opportunity for them to support the business with essential skills and behaviours to drive results.
You will learn how to prepare financial statements for Sole Traders and Partnerships, the importance of management accounting information, and how to prepare VAT returns. You’ll develop the technical skills to start, or progress, your career in accountancy and this will allow you to continue with your studies onto Level 4. To pass this level you will need to study the following four units: Financial Accounting, Preparing Financial Statements (FAPS). Management Accounting Techniques (MATS). Tax Processes for Business.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
The firm are willing to support you through your AAT studies, by providing a fully supported training package, which gives you paid time out of the office to attend college and complete your AAT qualification.
Subject to completing this, there is then the opportunity to move onto ACA / ACCA.
