What will the apprentice be doing?
- Install new software and hardware
- Secure, security code and ensure the safe set up of new equipment
- Set up equipment such as laptops, data projectors, interactive whiteboards, sound systems and other specialist equipment, ensuring that systems are ready for use and operating correctly
- Deliver hardware and resources to work areas and classrooms as required
- Perform basic diagnostic routines
- Work to and give guidance to others on the SAST ICT
- Acceptable Use Policy
- Perform checks to ensure broadband connectivity is maintained
Detect, diagnose and resolve most PC, printer and peripheral device faults - Promote and adhere to safe working routines and health and safety procedures within the department and the school including risk assessments
- Ensure the safe disposal of obsolete equipment, used consumables and waste materials in line with recognised procedures and legal requirements

- The Apprentice ICT Technician needs to work as part of a wider Trust team and is expected to work effectively and collaboratively with all colleagues in delivering service excellence and contributing positively to School life
- To demonstrate commitment and reliability through good attendance and time keeping
- To work flexibly and undertake duties of an equivalent nature that may be required by the Head of IT Services from time to time
- To demonstrate enthusiasm for the work of SAST and its values
- To continuously improve their own and team’s performance achieved through CPD, self- assessment and feedback, working collaboratively with each other and contributing good ideas and solutions
- To be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of young people within the Trust
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- 18 months expected duration to complete, working towards your Level 3 Information Communication Technician Qualification
- All learning is delivered online/ remote
