What will the apprentice be doing?

Join us as an Apprentice CAD Technician and set the course for your career in the ever-evolving world of rail infrastructure.  

Key Responsibilities:

As you embark on this journey, you'll be involved in a variety of tasks that contribute to the advancement of rail projects. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Producing detailed 2D/3D CAD (Computer Aided Design) drawings.
  • Assisting in the design of railways and their associated infrastructure.
  • Providing support in project administration and record-keeping.
  • Collaborating on data review and analysis.
  • Contributing innovative solutions to project challenges.
  • Participating in on-site visits for information collection.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Qualification: Civil Engineering Technician Apprenticeship (Level 3 BTEC Diploma).


College: North Street Campus, Leeds College of Building.
Course Length: 3 Years

Training will be on a one day a week basis. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Opportunity to move into a full time role upon completion of the apprenticeship for the right candidate.
AJMS will support any further education opportunities such as higher and degree apprenticeships.
