You'll learn to carry out the basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to commercial HVGs. Duties will include; Contributing to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes. What will the apprentice be doing?
Training alongside our qualified technicians on a day to day basis.
Duties will include:
- Contributing to the maintenance of a safe and efficient workshop and adhere to the company and legislative processes.
- Using basic tasks with tools and equipment common to all procedures involving basic mechanical and electrical procedures related to HV.
- Using a range of diagnostic and electrical measuring equipment to identify faults and underlying causes on HV’s.
- Inspecting and preparing vehicles and trailers to meet DVSA standards prescribed in the tester’s manual.
- Carrying out final quality checks before handover to the customer without supervision.
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Heavy vehicle service and maintenance technician Level 3 (A level).
- All duties and training to take place at employers address with no day release requirement. Tutor intervention every 4 to 6 weeks.
- Functional Skills in English and maths if required.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
A permanent position and pay rise will be offered to the right person upon successful completion of apprenticeship.
