What will the apprentice be doing?

The following duties will be untaken by the apprentice with the support and advice of the partner and manager.

  • Preparing and finalising accounts for both Limited Companies and sole traders
  • Calculating and completing Tax returns
  • Completing VAT returns
  • Company Secretarial work
  • Administrative duties
  • Ad hoc support

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting 
The apprentice will be enrolled on the Level 3 Assistant Accountant apprenticeship standard, which includes 6 AAT exams, in addition to the Synoptic Assessment as part of the End-Point Assessment (EPA) process. 
The knowledge units will be delivered at the EMA training hub in Derby or Nottingham (depending on apprentices' location) through day release.

Marshall Smalley is seeking an apprentice to support the Accounts Team. As an apprentice you will develop key skills within all aspects of Accountancy and support various sized clients. As an apprentice accountant, you will need strong communication skills ( written and verbal) ,analytical skills with a high level of attention to detail and be competent when using accountancy software and associated database systems.
