What will the apprentice be doing?

As a welding apprentice, you will work alongside experienced welders and fabricators, learning the necessary skills and techniques to become a proficient welder which will include:

  • Assist experienced welders in various welding tasks, including preparation, assembly, and welding of metal components
  • Learn and apply different welding techniques such as MIG and TIG welding
  • Operate welding equipment and tools safely and efficiently, following all health and safety guidelines
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and welding specifications
  • Perform quality checks on completed welds to ensure they meet required standards
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring proper storage and handling of welding materials and equipment
  • Attend training sessions and classes to develop welding skills and knowledge
  • Follow instructions and guidance from experienced welders to enhance learning and skill development
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, including punctuality and attendance

Things to consider

The successful candidate must be able to commute to and from Techflow Marine Bedlington NE22 7DQ. May be required to work on site from time to time, or taken to sub-contractors during inspection visits to gain more experience.
