We are seeking an enthusiastic and ambitious apprentice Structural Steel Buyer to join our industry leading team. You will develop skills in building and maintaining relationships with suppliers, negotiating prices, managing inventory, and ensuring that all materials meet our health and safety, quality, environmental and sustainability standards.

What will the apprentice be doing?
- Source and purchase structural steel materials from suppliers
- Negotiate prices and contracts with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing
- Monitor inventory levels and forecast demand to ensure timely delivery of materials
- Work closely with the fabrication team to ensure that materials meet their requirements
- Ensure that all materials are of high quality and meet our specifications
- Manage the supply chain to ensure that materials are delivered on time and within budget
- Build and maintain relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders in the industry
- Continuously seek to improve procurement processes and procedures
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Duration:
- 15 months practical training period, plus 3 months for End Point Assessment
Delivery model:
- Work-based training with your employer
- 10 days professional training at college
- Approximately 12 on-site or/and Teams assessment visits per year
- Level 2 Functional Skills in maths and English (7 days at college for each, if required)
- Off the job training will count for at least 6 hours a week of an apprentice’s time at work
Qualifications included:
- Level 2 Functional Skills in English and maths
- Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship
End Point Assessment:
- Knowledge test
- Portfolio based interview
- Project/improvement presentation
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- The right candidate could secure a further degree level management apprenticeship following the succesful completion of the L3 Business Administration
