What will the apprentice be doing?
OSI Electronics are based in St Neots and from design, prototype and PCB assembly to volume box builds, they make electronic products for the UK and overseas markets. They now need an apprentice to join their busy team. Within their production team you will learn the skills in PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly). The purpose is to build and solder circuit boards, to work within a flow line, inspection, and re-works. You will learn about their products and customers, with the opportunity to progress to other areas within the production team. You will work towards the responsibility of a PCBA Builder, working within the PCBA process, hand assembly, electronics, electro-mechanical circuit board assemblies. To include: board building, hand soldering, rework and inspection on printed circuit boards. You will be populating PCBAs with through hole components within pre-flow process while adhering to production documentation and component kit prep and PCB cropping within the pre-flow process. You will set up equipment needed to assemble the printed circuit assemblies. i.e. ladder racks and assembly frames, hand soldering through-hole components within hand-assembly process. Operating cropping and repaneling machines as well as PCBA cleaning and perform basic troubleshooting protocols and rework for non-conforming units. And carry out normal assembly tasks as required. You will need the ability to be flexible and handle priority changes as they occur.
