What will the apprentice be doing?

First Class Nursery provide a child-led learning experience that offers fun and challenge. Their environment is developed with the support of our children, through listening, observation, evaluation, and reflection. If you are interested in joining this nursery as an apprentice, keep reading to see what is involved in this role.

Duties and responsibilities:
Under supervision to provide all aspects of care for children including washing, changing and feeding.
To assist with meeting the personal and emotional needs of individual children.
To provide adult interaction with children in the nursery.
To be aware of the nurseries confidentiality policy.
Team work
Support all staff and engage in a good staff team.
To attend all out of hour’s activities, e.g. training, monthly staff meetings, parent/carer reviews, Christmas party, etc.
General
1. Contribute to good standards of hygiene and cleanliness in the nursery
2. To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature, as may be determined by the apprentice's  supervisor from time to time.
3. The apprentice duties must at all times be carried out in compliance with the nursery’s Equal Opportunities policy.
4. Look upon the nursery as a “whole” where can you help be most utilised, be constantly aware of the needs of the children.
5. To respect the confidentiality of information received.
6. To ensure that food provision is carried out within the guidelines of the Food Safety Act 1990, Safer Food Better Business and id balanced and healthy in accordance with dietary requirements.
7. To ensure the provision of a high quality environment to meet the needs of individual children from differing cultures and religious backgrounds, and stages of development.
8. To be aware of high profile of the nursery and to uphold their standards at all times.
9. To be aware of all emergency and fire evacuation procedures.

As an apprentice, you will need to ask questions. (Lots of questions) Please do not worry if you have asked a question and forgot the answer, ask, ask and ask again, we really do not mind. We have all been there!!!  You will make mistakes; your duty is to learn from those mistakes

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Your full role and responsibilities will be set out by your employer. First Class Nursery will provide you with all of the on-the-job training you need to up-skill in your role, and your 20% off-the-job learning will be incorporated as part of your working day.

You will be working towards the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner apprenticeship standard, which includes:

  • Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours
  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Qualification
  • Functional skills in Maths and English if required

This will be delivered through First Class Nursery’s dedicated training provider, Realise. Realise is an established training provider that’s enjoying an exciting period of growth following a management buyout and rebrand in late 2020.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Full time position available following successful completion of your apprenticeship with opportunities to progress onto Level 3 and further qualifications.

About the employer
