What will the apprentice be doing?

Main Duties:

  • Promote team working and good communications, manage employee performance through review system and ensure compliance with the company’s handbook
  • Liaise with Team Leaders regarding a planned maintenance schedule to carry out preventative maintenance as is necessary to ensure that machinery and equipment is adequately maintained to prevent breakdowns
  • Promptly attend breakdowns and ensure tasks are prioritised with the aim of keeping downtime to a minimum
  • Assess and order parts and equipment necessary to complete individual tasks
  • Liaise with outside contractors on scheduling machine maintenance and or building maintenance and/or new installations
  • Communicate all issues to the Maintenance Manager/Production Manager if those problems are likely to cause production to miss targets
  • Available for call outs and weekend working as required
  • Carry out reactive, planned and preventative repairs/replacements/improvements on all types of machinery (electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, Pneumatic, CNC), equipment, fixtures, fittings, building systems including plumbing, drainage
  • Carry out any other reasonable requests as required (such as working with other teams to help fulfil targets

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The learner will be studying the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard qualification
  • Day release to West Suffolk College
  • Functional skills will be studied if equivalent qualifications are not held

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The oppotunity to learn and to achieve many diiferent skills, including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC, welding, lathe, milling machine and soldering.
