What will the apprentice be doing?

In this role you will have the opportunity to replicate the skills developed in college in the workplace learning to work safely and efficiently in the workplace completing work orders through:

  • MIG/ TIG or MMA welding
  • Thermal cutting
  • Sheet metal or plate work
  • Translating drawings

All apprentices undertaking this apprenticeship must achieve:

Mandatory qualifications: 

  • Diploma in Engineering Operations (Skills). Ofqual regulated Level of qualification: 2
  • Certificate or Diploma in Engineering Operations (knowledge) Ofqual regulated Level of qualification: 2
  • Apprentices without Level 1 (or equivalent) in English and maths must ensure that apprentices achieve Level 1 and take the test for Level 2 prior to taking the end-point assessment.
  • End Point Assessment (EPA)
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
    College attendance is required one day per week at Dudley College Campus, Advance II, Priory Rd, Dudley, DY1 4AD.
