What will the apprentice be doing?
- Machine Setup: Assisting in the setup of CNC machines, which involves loading materials, securing workpieces, and installing cutting tools according to specifications
- Programming: Learning and assisting with CNC programming, which involves inputting the appropriate instructions into the machine to execute the desired machining operations
- Operating CNC Machines: Running CNC machines and monitoring their operation to ensure they produce parts within specified tolerances and quality standards
- Troubleshooting: Identifying and addressing issues with CNC machines, such as tool wear, program errors, or machine malfunctions, and working to resolve them with guidance from experienced machinists
- Collaborating with the team to identify and troubleshoot
technical issues - Maintaining accurate records of work performed
- Adhering to health and safety guidelines
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Training will be completed 1 day per week at Doncaster College The hub site
- The other 4 days a week will be hands-on learning at CWE Limited site at Ealand
- You will undertake the Level 3 Machining Technician Apprenticeship Standard
- You will undertake Functional Skills for English and/or maths if needed
- You will undertake both on and off-the-job training by a team of industry-qualified professionals to give you the best skills, knowledge and experience that will help you become a CNC Machinist of the future
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
On successful completion of the apprenticeship, the apprentice will become a skilled tradesperson and be offered a full-time role as part of the CWE team.
