Countryside Worker Apprentice GREENFIELDS COUNTRYSIDE LTD
A Countryside Worker Apprentice is required. You will be involved in all aspects of Forestry/Landscaping Maintenance. This includes grass seeding/cutting, weeding, pruning, turfing, litter picking, planting, felling, spraying, fencing and all other general forestry maintenance operations. You will be expected to carry out practical skilled maintenance and new work operations.

Under 18s will work 40 hours a week. Over 18s will work 50 hours to include a day release at college. Hours worked for Greenfields are a 6am start to 4pm finish, 9.25 hours paid per day with 45 min unpaid break during the day.

What will the apprentice be doing?
• Participate in all identified training and apply this to your work
• Communicate well as to your manager any problems you experience in your work
• Apply all of the safety procedures contained in the Greenfields Health & Safety Management System and other safe working at all times, to include the use of the Greenfields APP (GAPP)
• Be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions (suitable clothing will be provided)
• Work on your own initiative and are expected to produce work to customer specification, standards and schedules
• At all times demonstrate a responsible attitude towards work and colleagues and follow the rules of any site you are working on
• Be polite and respectful to our clients/customers
• Use any tools you are provided with for work purposes only and in compliance with safe systems of working
• Be required to arrive promptly and in adequate time to ensure you are ready to work as close to your start time as possible
• Building and repairing a variety of field boundaries including fences, walls, and hedging
• Maintaining public rights of way for walkers, cyclists, and horse riders
• Improving habitats and woodland to get them in good condition by using a variety of appropriate techniques, including pruning, felling, or planting so native flora and fauna (plants and animals) can thrive
• Surveying/monitoring habitats and flora and fauna to understand species numbers and relate this to relevant habitat management practices.

- Block release to Brooksby Melton College Campus, Melton Mowbray
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if necessary
- On-the-job training
- Off-the-job training.
