What will the apprentice be doing?
- Teaching Assistants at West Lea provide care, support and assistance to students, all of whom have complex needs
- These may include medical needs, physical disability, speech, language and communication difficulties, and emotional and learning difficulties
- Teaching Assistants are part of a strong community that works together with the common goal of helping each other to flourish and learners leave equipped with a ‘suitcase of skills’ that help them to progress onto further education and work
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
- Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
Training will be delivered using a blended learning model and will include:
Training led by qualified teachers and School Specialists
- Online Learning
- Shadowing and Reciprocal Learning tasks
- Research Projects
- Case Studies
- Observations and discussions
- Specialist SEND masterclasses
