What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Teaching Assistants at West Lea provide care, support and assistance to students, all of whom have complex needs
  • These may include medical needs, physical disability, speech, language and communication difficulties, and emotional and learning difficulties
  • Teaching Assistants are part of a strong community that works together with the common goal of helping each other to flourish and learners leave equipped with a ‘suitcase of skills’ that help them to progress onto further education and work

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Teaching Assistant Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 

Training will be delivered using a blended learning model and will include:

Training led by qualified teachers and School Specialists

  • Online Learning
  • Shadowing and Reciprocal Learning tasks
  • Research Projects
  • Case Studies
  • Observations and discussions
  • Specialist SEND masterclasses

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the right candidate could progress to the following:
