What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Operators are responsible for following the H & S, Quality and Technique key points specified in the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for the line(s) they work on.
  • The operator is responsible for ensuring they have and wear all the correct PPE required to perform their job.
  • Operators are responsible for the quality of the work they produce and must ensure all orders meet the ‘On Time in Full’ (OTIF) criteria for our customers and that waste is kept to a minimum.
  • Follow the environmental and waste processes onsite.
  • You must have been trained to a level 3 competency via the department SOP and understand your departments key performance indicators.
  • Report any near misses, incidents or Hazards to your line manager
  • Work in a slitting or blanking machine environment.
  • Assist team leader to achieve weekly customer demands.
  • Achieve KPI set by QA department – right first time.
  • Daily housekeeping, maintain 5S methodology.

 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

This is a Lean Manufacturing Level 2 apprenticeship, delivered over a period of 12 months
Functional Skills in maths and English, if required 
You will be required to attend one week's induction at the training provider (In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, Walsall, WS9 8UG) and 10 days of block training.

The rest of the training will be assessor visits to you at the company site
Level 2 Diploma in Manufacturing

 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

On completion of your apprenticeship, you should be a fully trained multi skilled operator. You may be offered a permanent role, along with any further training, if required.
