What will the apprentice be doing?
The Delta Group is a multi-faceted large format printing and visual communications specialist, situated on the edge of London and pushing instore, outdoor and online "Point of purchase" (P.O.P) in a very competitive landscape.
The Apprentice will receive training and support to understand the Delta Groups Manufacturing Operations and different print output devices.
Working with the Digital Repro team the Apprentice will learn how to:
- Prepare files using a range of software and technology such as Adobe In Design, Photoshop, Illustrator & Acrobat
- Preparing files for all output devices - Digital, Litho, Screen etc.
- Colour retouching and image manipulation
- Imposing files using Metrix
- Sending files to Indigo using Smartstream
- Editing PDFs using a PDF editing application
- Checking client files ensuring rules and guidelines are followed
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 2 Print Operative Apprenticeship Standard (pre-press pathway).
The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship during their working hours. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available and training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs.
Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery. Candidates who do not have the required level of maths and/or English will be required to complete functional skills as part of their apprenticeship
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Progression would take the Apprentice into a MAC Operative role within the Digital Repro Department. There would be opportunities to progress into a Department Supervisor and Manager role. Alternative career options such as a Colour Manager would also be a potential career path as may roles within the Commercial Operations, Production, Creative Design or Print Operations teams.
