What will the apprentice be doing?

Responsibilities Include:

  • Fabricate and weld components using various materials and equipment
  • Complete job sheets to document your actions and ensure accurate record-keeping
  • Maintain a safe work environment by following procedures and complying with regulations
  • Keep equipment in optimal condition by following operating instructions
  • understanding of sheet metal production machinery, including CNC profiling, press brake, guillotine, folder, rolls and punches

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 3 Metal Fabricator apprenticeship standard, including Functional Skills Maths and English, if required
  • This programme is delivered via a day-release delivery model which means that one day per week, your attendance is required at Canterbury College
  • You will work with expert Trainers to develop your knowledge, skills and behaviours within the profession
  • You will gather learning evidence, reviews and off-the-job records using your e-portfolio
  • At the end of the planned learning period, it will be agreed that you are ready to enter 'Gateway' and for your End Point Assessment to be arranged
