What will the apprentice be doing?

The company are looking for an apprentice to carry out varied tasks on several different types of CNC machines. They will be assigned a mentor from within the business, who will be responsible for helping the successful candidate to learn all aspects of their role, until they are confident and competent in reading and working to CAD drawings and operating the machines they will be responsible for.

  • Learn and practice all elements of health & safety across the company
  • Responsible for operating several CNC machines across the plant
  • Read, work to and understand CAD drawings once shown
  • Operate and clamp set up the CNC machines
  • Learn and understand all aspects of programming, operating and running the CNC machine they will be responsible for
  • Understand a CAD drawing in order to enable them to programme the CNC machines

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • The apprenticeship qualification will be Level 3 Machinist Technician pathway, delivered over a three-year period.
  • Functional Skills in maths and English, if required.
  • The apprentice will attend the training centre, In-Comm Training Services in Aldridge, WS9 8UG, on a part - time basis for the first 12 months. This will be delivered by block training, approx one month at college and one month at company, for the first 12 months.
  • After this, you will be required to attend one day per week for years 2 and 3, and at the company at all other times.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Further training will be offered to the correct candidate, once this qualification has been achieved.

Goal setting and a transparent career pathway will be discussed and adhered to.
