What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Assist with routine tasks connected to the upkeep and maintenance of the fabric of the buildings, machinery and all associated equipment.
  • To assist the maintenance team in carrying out reactive and planned maintenance requirements.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties to keep the workshop, tools and work areas clean, tidy and safe.
  • Any other general labouring duties as deemed appropriate by the maintenance team or Management.
  • Carry out any other relevant duties as determined by the maintenance team or Management as may reasonably be required.
  • Undertake all relevant paperwork and record keeping as required whether written or electronic.
  • Maintain stock levels utilising current and any future software packages including the introduction and implementation of an inventory and purchasing database for the acquisition of parts and key components.
  • Effective verbal communication to the maintenance team, machine operators and Management of work carried out or to be conducted and or any safety issues or concerns.
  • To attend and achieve any training courses and qualifications that the company deems reasonable, suitable and necessary to perform for the role.
  • To comply with all Precision Colour Printings Health and Safety policies.
  • The role holder will be expected to comply with the Precision Colour Printing Equality and Diversity policies and behave in a way that is consistent with fair and equal treatment for all.
  • The role holder will be issued with, and required to wear the supplied work wear along with the appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Any other duties, tasks or activities that may be necessary from time to time.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician L3 apprenticeship standard

Apprentices must achieve level 2 English and mathematics prior to taking the end-point assessment for the apprenticeship if they haven’t achieved them on entry.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be a full time role available after successful completion of this apprenticeship.

This standard will meet the professional standards of the Engineering Council for registration as Engineering Technician (Eng Tech) by an appropriate Professional Engineering Institution.
