What will the apprentice be doing?

The main role of the LSA is to work as part of a team as directed by the class teacher or therapist, to support children's care and learning. You will work in an experienced team who share the same goal which is to enable positive outcomes for young people we support. Duties include:

  • Assisting in maintaining a safe environment for pupils and staff.
    Person centred, either one-to-one or two-to-one support with a student within the classroom environment.
  • Support students out in the community and on educational visits.
  • Support our learners to maximise learning in crucial life skills, meet their goals and aspirations through communication, independence and participation.
  • Work closely with teachers, other support staff and therapists to meet the needs of our students

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Full Teaching Assistenat Level 3 standard

All training will be at the employers premises

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There may be potential opportunities to progress to a permanent role within the foundation, on the sucessful completion of the apprenticeship

The salary of this post is pro rata therefore successful candidates will work 39 weeks per year and be paid over the 45 weeks per year in order to include holiday payment This post is to work with children who have disabilities and special educational needs therefore the successful candidate will need be able to demonstrate a calm, caring and patient manner
