What will the apprentice be doing?

All usual yard duties would be included such as:

  • Mucking out
  • Turning out and bringing in
  • Keeping the yard clean and tidy
  • Applicants must already have basic skill level of working with horses but there will be plenty of support to improve. Also, opportunity for regular lessons and chance to compete at our shows

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Equine Groom Apprenticeship Standard:

  • Also, if required, working towards your Functional Skills in maths and/or English at Level 1 or Level 2
  • All training for the apprenticeship will be completed on site with the employer and Haddon Training

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

There could be a chance of employment at end of apprenticeship or progression on to the Level 3 Senior Equine Groom apprenticeship for the right candidate.

About the employer

With a lifelong passion for horses Paula started Fourwinds Equestrian Centre lover 40 years ago way before the internet and facebook. Having successfully competed at novice and intermediate eventing, Paula now focuses on dressage. She is still actively involved in teaching within the riding school, from beginner to advanced level. Paula is responsible for the staff and student training, is a qualified assessor and verifier for NVQs.
