What will the apprentice be doing?
- To make observations on all the children in your room
- To help the room leader and nursery practitioners with ideas for in-the-moment planning using the observations
- Eventually, have a key group of children and keep a record of their development and any work they have done
- To be aware of safeguarding issues and report any concerns to the safeguarding officer
- To ensure there are stimulating activities out for the children to access
- To be aware of health and safety issues within the nursery and report any issues to management
- To attend all staff meetings and nursery events inside and outside of nursery hours
- To be aware of all children’s needs within the nursery i.e. dietary requirements/ allergies/ who is allowed to collect each child
- To form a good relationship with parents and hand over messages professionally
- Take part in daily tasks such as tea, snack, daily books, singing songs, set up of a room
- General cleaning
- Produce displays
- Any other business that the management team requests to ensure a smooth running of the early year’s settings day
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
You will be working towards a Level 2 Early Years Practitioner. Training will be delivered on the job and by regular visits from one of our development coaches at The Learning Foundry with monthly online workshops. Training will also include Functional Skills in maths and English.
Candidates may also be required to attend the city centre campus for additional support if needed.
