What will the apprentice be doing?

We are looking for an apprentice whom thrives in an outdoors environment, with a keen interest in the Landscape & Environment  and use of machinery.

We work with a range of outside spaces to ensure that they are properly maintained and fulfil their role for visitors and customers. Some of the daily tasks you will be supporting include the following:

  • To undertake a wide range of projects including: General grounds maintenance, countryside management, fencing, surfacing, paving and hard and soft landscaping
  • To operate a wide range of machinery and tools
  • Keeping the working area clean and tidy adhering to Health and Safety procedures
  • Ensure wastage of materials on site is kept to a minimum
  • Liaising with the Contracts Management team on a daily basis
  • Work independently but also delivers as part of a wider team
    Have a work safe home safe attitude, not only for you but for all site users

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Level 2 Landscape Construction Operative Apprenticeship
  • Weekly day release into Berkshire College of Agriculture (BCA)
  • Level 3 Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW)
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in Maths and English if required
  • Assessor visits to employer every 6-8 weeks

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Full time permanent positions could be available on successful completion.

Things to consider

You will be working outdoors throughout the year. There is manual handling and some heavy lifting involved. You will be required to travel to and from sites across Southern England.
