What will the apprentice be doing?

Main responsibilities and duties include:

  • To assist in the provision of outstanding care for the children placed in the nursery in a way that meets their physical, social, emotional, intellectual, and developmental needs
  • To give support to other personnel within the setting and to work alongside the Early Years Nursery Practitioners/Room Leaders to implement the daily nursery routine
  • To support with written documentation e.g., writing post it notes to record ‘wow’ moments and observations of play
  • Support Practitioners/Room Leaders to record children’s day to day activities etc.
  • To contribute to a planned programme of activities suitable to the age range of children in conjunction with other staff
  • To ensure good standards of safety, hygiene and cleanliness are maintained at all times and to help support staff with day to day domestic tasks, such as cleaning, washing up
  • To work alongside and support all staff and engage in a good staff team
  • To adhere to all Nursery Policies and procedures
  • Committed to undertake training in First Aid, Child Protection, and other subjects as appropriate
  • To attend staff meetings and all necessary and relevant training and to attend and support all out of working hours activities such as training, parents’ evenings, summer fairs, Christmas fairs and events, productions, and parties etc.
  • To undertake all other duties and tasks assigned by colleagues and the Management Team, to help support the business
  • Strive to Safeguard children by working to the organisation’s Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and procedures

Daisychain Day Nursery has been established for over 25 years, and in that time we have looked after lots of children, who are now grown and bringing their own children along to Daisychain to experience our unique outdoor setting. We are a Day Nursery that has an outdoor ethos of learning through play.
