What will the apprentice be doing?

We are seeking an Apprentice to join our busy factory in Alnwick. You will be trained in the use of operating a number of machines and carrying out a number of processes across the Production environment.

Specific responsibilities:

You Will:

  • Be trained as an engineering apprentice in all aspects including tool making, design, production techniques with bias towards CNC machines and digital manufacture.
  • Work on projects set out by Senior Engineers.
  • Be given training in design and the chance to implement your own designs.
  • Be given Training for relevant technical software.
  • Be given maintenance training from machine to Jig, die, mold etc. To give a better appreciation of production and the problems that occur and the knowledge that provides to implement best practices.
  • (In time) learn to work with other engineers, exchange ideas lead when required and work on your own initiative with autonomy.
  • Assist with any other similar duties as needed to support the effective operation of the reel manufacturing process.

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will be completing the level 3 Machining Technican Apprenticeship standard that will include one day per week at Newcastle College. Day to be confirmed.

This apprenticeship requires GCSEs grade 4/C in English and maths. 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Completion of apprenticeship, however progression within the company may be available on completion of your apprenticeship.
