What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Supporting our Electricians to diagnose and complete a broad range of electrical maintenance and repair works in both occupied and void homes; ensuring that works are ‘right first time’ and completed to a high standard
  • Engaging with tenants to provide a positive customer experience and achieve tenant satisfaction targets
  • Proactively working towards electrician qualification and competency, by developing skills, knowledge and behaviours (set by the apprenticeship framework and Midland Heart) through on and off-the-job learning
  • Developing a strong knowledge of and applying current health & safety legislation throughout all works - ensuring that method statements and risk assessments are completed where appropriate

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The programme:

  • Year 1: With a starting salary of £16,000 per year, you’ll start a Level 3 Electrical qualification whilst you shadow, support and receive mentoring from an experienced Electrician on the job, whilst commencing your classroom learning (1 day per week for the duration of qualification). We’ll even support you to obtain your driving license if you don’t have one already
  • Year 2: You’ll continue to work towards qualification and carry out more hands-on electrical work, whilst still working alongside and being mentored by an Electrician. We’ll also increase your salary to circa £22,000 per year to recognise your growing abilities
  • Year 3: You’ll complete your electrical qualification and begin to independently carry out maintenance works. You’ll still be mentored by an Electrician and again, we’ll increase your salary to £28,000 per year
