What will the apprentice be doing?
Key duties
1. To prepare and deliver assigned programmes of teaching and learning activities to an individual pupil modifying and adapting activities as necessary by working in partnership with the class teacher and SENDco.
2. Assess, record and report on development, progress and attainment.
3. Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate.
4. Assess the needs of a pupil and use detailed knowledge and specialist skills to support pupils’ learning.
5. Support pupils in social and emotional well-being, putting the child first to ensure they are given all the necessary tools to be the best me they can be.
6. Help keep the children safe and have good understanding of safeguarding.
7. Be part of the school team and community by developing and promoting positive working relationships with staff, pupils, parents, governors and the wider school community.
8. Support the role of parents / carers in pupil learning and contribute to meetings with parents / carers to provide constructive feedback on pupil progress/achievement etc.

This training programme focuses on developing classroom delivery and work within schools. The Diploma aims to grow your existing skillset in the following key areas:
- Increased mastery of the critical stages of child and adolescent development
- Enhance understanding of the types of influences that can affect this development
- Become fully adept in supporting teachers with the planning of activities, as well as creating own activity plans
- Evaluation of personal performance in relation to supporting literacy, numeracy, and ICT
- Amplify knowledge of safeguarding, and emergency procedures
- Understand legislation with regard to confidentiality, data protection, and information sharing
