We are offering you a 4 year apprenticeship, in training partnership HWGTA, an OFSTED awarded 'Outstanding Training Provider.' You will be become familiar with and be trained in all aspects of manufacturing. If you are practical individual, this could be the one for you as this is a hands-on role in a shop floor manufacturing environment.

What will the apprentice be doing?
The CNC Apprentice will work alongside experienced engineers to gain expertise and the required competency level. You will learn skills, knowledge, and processes to produce quality precision engineered components to detailed specifications within strict production timeframes and tight tolerances.
THE CNC APPRENTICE WILL GAIN EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE IN:
· Setting, operating and programming CNC milling and CNC Turning machines to include 5 and multi axis machines
· Attain an Engineering qualification from City and Guilds / HNC or similar.
· Speeds and feeds for different raw materials; controls; programming; safety and tooling
· FANUC / Mazatrol control language
· Lean Manufacturing
· CMM inspection and manual measuring tools and techniques.
A FULLY COMPETENT AND QUALIFIED CNC APPRENTICE WILL HAVE THE ABILITY TO:
· Program machine tools
· Operate CNC milling and CNC turning machinery.
· Set fixtures and fittings.
· Working to tight tolerances
· Use manual measuring equipment.
· Competently read manufacturing drawings
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Formal training is delivered at HWGTA, located in Worcester (WR4 9GN).
You will receive a training plan that is specific to your qualification, with sessions that are delivered through a combination of face-to-face and remote - EngineeringTechnician: Machining Standard Level 3.
Mandatory qualifications:
- EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge)
- EAL L3 Extended diploma in Machining (Development Knowledge) minimum 720GLH.
- Pearson BTEC Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering (Machining) (Development Technical Knowledge)
- City and Guilds Machining technician (1273)
You will receive monthly visits from your assigned Learning and Development Specialist, who will set you work, monitor your development and wellbeing, and discuss training sessions. They will also prepare you for your End Point Assessment to gain your Engineering qualification. There is also a five-day teambuilding residential trip that is held in spring of each year.
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
CNC Machinist capable of operating both milling and turning machining centres. Progression to setting and programming and CMM inspection.
