What will the apprentice be doing?

Goldington Academy is a very successful secondary school in Bedford. The secondary school serves an established area to the north-east of Bedford town centre and currently has 900 students on roll. The school, which is very well resourced with interactive facilities in each teaching space and has been rated good by Ofsted.

Part of your role will include:

  • Providing academic and emotional support and to assist with pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND)
  • You will also be working closely with teaching staff to support pupils who are underachieving to enable them to maximise their full potentials
  • You will engage students within their learning and promote positive behaviour in the classroom

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

You will gain the following qualifications:

  • Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)

Things to consider

Following a successful interview with Bedford College, references will be obtained prior to interview. This will include filling in a full application form on the school's template, including reference requests prior to the interview (for school leavers, it will be mandatory for one of these to come from your school's Head Teacher/Master). A full DBS check will be required for the successful applicant. This role is term time only, plus training days. Due to the nature of this role, holiday or other planned absence during term time is not normally permitted. Candidates must attend an initial interview with a member of the Bedford College Apprenticeship Recruitment Team.
