What will the apprentice be doing?
- Ensure that all tools manufactured are to the highest quality and meet Hadley standards
- Report to Supervisor or Manager any parts that require modification during the build phase, whilst ensuring that drawings are fully updated prior to modification
- Use of all machines and equipment within HGT to their maximum efficiency
- Assist in the development of new and existing manufacturing processes and procedures to optimise performance
- Follow company quality procedures as per the Quality manual
- Maintain good standard of housekeeping throughout the machine shop
- Use methods of Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement
- Strive to improve current operating methods to reduce cost or increase efficiency
- Assist to identify and implement solutions to quality problems or issues
- Report any quality problems or issues to management
- Ensure all equipment is operated safely
- Accurately read and interpret engineering drawings
- Actively participate and contribute to meetings as appropriate
- Measure equipment accurately
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
This 4-year programme will include:
- Engineering Basic Skills training – off the job full time at Make UK in Aston, Birmingham
- NVQ Level 3 in Engineering
- A Technical Certificate (BTEC Diploma Level 3 in Engineering)
- In house training in line with your requirements
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
Once your apprenticeship is complete, you will become a qualified tool maker. Opportunity to travel between UK sites.
