What will the apprentice be doing?

  • To assist the pre-school team with the children and the administration
  • To promote the work and image of the pre-school by always maintaining high standards of personal appearance and adopting a friendly, professional approach to parents, members of the public and the wider community
  • To promote high standards, progression, continuity, and quality of learning
  • To observe children as individuals and in groups and monitor behaviour progress and possible developmental needs
  • To adhere to the pre-school’s policies with special reference to the learning support, safeguarding and child protection, equal opportunities policies, and to help promote inclusion
  • Planning activities to ensure the progress and development of the children
  • Overseeing activities of the children in order to ensure their safety
  • To maintain, repair and clean any equipment e.g., books, aprons, dressing-up clothes, toys, games, etc., and to tidy up after use
  • To be concerned with the general welfare of the children, including matters relating to personal hygiene and health
  • Supervising the children at all snack and meal times to ensure dietary needs are met

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • An Early Years Educator Level 3 qualification will be achieved upon completion
  • Training will be one day a week at Strode College, Street, Somerset
  • Strode College will be managing the applications for this vacancy

Things to consider

As we are a charity organisation, we would ask that you would be willing to support the occasional fundraising event which may be on a weekend. You will be paid for this.

About the employer

Pilton Pre-school was established in 1966 (as Pilton Playgroup) and operates in the Methodist Chapel rooms alongside the chapel. It is set in the picturesque village of Pilton in Somerset which is easily accessible from the surrounding towns and villages of Glastonbury, West Pennard, North Wootton and Shepton Mallet to name but a few.
