What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Be an active member of the pre-school team
  • Promote the aims of Panda Pre-school and Werneth and Freehold Community Development Project
  • Work flexibly and supportively with other team members
  • Promote equal opportunities and diversity with the Pre-School
  • To provide a stable and secure environment for all children meeting their needs in personal, social, emotional, communicative and physical development
  • To provide a stimulating environment that promotes opportunities for learning in all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage
  • To participate in providing a happy and relaxed environment where parents are happy to leave their children
  • To encourage parents and carers to share in the education of their children
  • To work in accordance with pre-school’s safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Be aware of children’s dietary requirements, allergies and medical needs
  • To participate in relevant training courses that maybe required for your own personal development or the professional need of the pre-school
  • To attend and participate in weekly team meetings and planning sessions
  • Participate in mentoring sessions and shadowing within the pre-school
  • To undertake any duties as may be reasonably determined by the manager or deputy manager
  • To communicate the schedule of attendance at Oldham college and assessment timetable with the pre-school manager throughout your apprenticeship

  • You will attend weekly, off the job training sessions at the Oldham college
  • English and maths qualifications form a mandatory part of all apprenticeships and must be completed before an apprentice can pass through gateway

Things to consider

You will be expected to be flexible with the working hours to ensure ratios are maintained. During the year you may be expected to participate in additional events out of the normal working hours. There is a degree of lifting and carrying that you will need to be able to carry out. This setting is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
