What will the apprentice be doing?

Responsibilities

  • Working alongside our Bakers you will assist in the preparation/ finishing of a wide range of our baked goods, from early morning confectionary to a wide variety of: cakes, sponges, flapjacks, shortbreads, bread & rolls.
  • You will at times throughout the day work on your own.
  • Once the products are Baked & Finished the products will need to be placed into packaging for short-term storage.
  • Cleaning will be involved throughout the day to ensure we work in a safe food environment. 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

Level 2 Baker Standard.

Training will be delivered at the bakery in Williton by Strode College on agreed dates. There will also be the potential to attend another Baker's School in Somerset.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once you become a qualified Baker and a key member of our work force, your wage will be a starting salary of around £24k per year. This would increase with future promotions (Bakery Manager).

Things to consider

Good communication skills is a MUST. This is 99% Manual labour so would not recommend this job if you are more interested in office work.
