What will the apprentice be doing?

  • You will be part of the software team that supports and maintains existing software as well as developing new features and products including embedded products and web-based applications

The main activities of the role will include:

  • Investigation and diagnosis of issues reported by customers
  • Maintenance of existing software to fix issues and add new features
  • Building and testing of software releases
  • Creating software release notes
  • You will work directly under the guidance of the Software Development Manager and will be supported by other members of the software team

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

  • Achieve BSc (Hons) in Digital and Technology Solutions and Apprenticeship certificate
  • The degree apprenticeship begins with a 7 week technical training block held on campus at Aston University, delivering core computing and business skills to enable you to become an effective team member in the workplace straight away
  • The course is blended applied academic and work-based learning to your role, complementing skills, focused on discussion and group work
  • Daily office based at our Smethwick office and some on campus visits at Aston University

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

  • Successful completion of the apprenticeship could lead to a full-time permanent contract as a Software Engineer within the R&D department. Things to consider

This role is based at our Head office in Smethwick, candidates must be able to travel to the office daily and, when required, to Aston University. Additional requirements are to be 18 or over when starting the apprenticeship (for legal reasons); be UK/EEA Nationality or Permanent Residency Status/Residing in the UK/EEA to (regulation reason)
