The successful candidate will work alongside a team of Setting Out Engineers to learn the specific requirements of structural steelwork dimensional surveys, setting out and as-built surveys. You will be based at the Keltbray office in Farringdon but will be required to work across projects in central London during the working week.

What will the apprentice be doing?

  • Existing structure dimensional surveys to inform design
  • Setting out of new structure - learning the duties of a setting out engineer
  • As-built surveys of installed structure
  • Actively understanding and thus promoting to lead the site safety culture
  • Record keeping through the maintenance of a site diary
  • Understand and become an efficient setting out engineer with time 

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

On successfully completion of this Level 4 Apprenticeship you will achieve a Level 4 HNC in Civil Engineering. You will also be given the opportunity to progress onto a Degree Apprenticeship in Civil Engineering. You will attend university on a day release basis to achieve a formal qualification to suppliment the hands on experience you will receive in the work place with Keltbray 

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

Once the apprentice has successfully completed the Level 4 HNC there will be an opportunity to top this up to a Level 6 Degree Apprenticeship and continue their prefessional development as a Civil Engineer with Keltbray to achieve Chartership status of the ICE.

Things to consider

As part of this role the Apprentice will be required to work across various Keltbray projects in Central London so will need to carry setting out equipment on public transport.
