What will the apprentice be doing?

  • You will be involved in the testing, servicing and repair of light vehicles, intitially assisting current technicians and as time progresses having the opportuntity to become hands on and working independently
  • You will be proactive in keeping a clean working environment
  • Assist in fault finding and providing solutions
  • Adhere to Health and Safety rules and policies

What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?

The apprenticeship training is delivered through a combination of workplace learning and regular college attendance 1 day a week. This training will teach you the knowledge, skills and behaviours set out in the Motor Vehicle Service and Mantenance Technician (light vehicle) Level 3 apprenticeship standard. On completion the apprentice will receive Motor Vehicle Service and Mantenance Technician (light vehicle) Level 3 qualification. Functional Skills in maths and English may also be required depending on current level.   

Before the Standard is met, all apprentices must take and achieve a certificate that meets the EU's 2014 F-gas regulation. (This will be done as part of the apprenticeship).

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

The opportunity to become an MOT Tester.

You MUST be prepared to commit to your work and training for the duration of the apprenticeship. In some cases, you may be required to have a telephone interview with Yeovil College prior to your application being passed on.
