What will the apprentice be doing?
Working for a specialist printing company conveniently located in Exeter with excellent public transport links. The factory is only five minutes' walk from the nearby railway station and bus stops; and for cyclists, ideally situated on Exeter's cycle path network.
The apprentice will work within our production department under the supervision of a small, friendly and supportive team.
Pre-Press services:
- Pre-flight and checking customer-supplied digital artwork
- Creation of new digital artwork and amending existing digital artwork
- Software processing of variable digital data
- Providing customers with both digital and high-quality printed proofs
- Plan each job for various lithographic and digital printing processes
- Processing printing plates and transporting them to printing presses
- Completion of paperwork associated with each job bag
- Maintenance and cleaning of various equipment
Other digital services and solutions:
- Set up and run various digital printing machines
- Set up and run various mailing equipment
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Upon successful completion of the apprenticeship, the qualification obtained will be a Level 3 Print Technician apprenticeship standard.
The apprentice will be given sufficient time to undertake their "off-the-job" requirement of the apprenticeship during their normal working hours. Throughout your time as an apprentice, you will be supported by both Pollards Print and the BPIF. You will be assigned a training coordinator to ensure that you have the best training available. Training requirements will be discussed at the point of employment to suit your individual needs and business needs. Most training and studying will be a combination of site-based and remote delivery.
Candidates who do not have the required level of maths and/or English will be required to complete functional skills as part of their apprenticeship.
