What will the apprentice be doing?
- To be trained to a high skill level to operate the CNC Punch Press and Press Brake machines
- To be trained to set and operate both MIG and TIG welding machines and carry out production work on stainless, mild steel and occasionally aluminium materials
- To be trained to read and have a good understanding of engineering drawings in order to produce fabrications and parts
- To ensure that all Production Works Orders (PWO) paperwork and any In Process scrap is recorded correctly and handed into the production administrator
- To be trained on all company H&S policies and procedures in order to work safely
- To be trained on polishing and metal finishing in order to get a quality finish on all components
What training will the apprentice take and what qualification will the apprentice get at the end?
Metal Fabricator Level 3 Apprenticeship Standard:
Year one - day release at Appris training centre Bradford:
- EAL Level 2 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Fabrication & Welding (Foundation Competence)
Year two & three - day release at Appris training centre Bradford:
- EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Fabrication & Welding (Development Knowledge)
Work based learning, mentoring & development throughout years one to four:
- EAL Level 3 Diploma in Advanced Manufacturing Engineering - Fabricator (Development Competence)
Additionally:
- Functional Skills in maths and English, if required
- Further learning and support for End Point Assessment (EPA)
What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?
- Successful applicants can look forward to the possibility of a full-time position, post-apprenticeship
